The Story of Noah
Noah changed our lives. Diagnosed with autism at an early age, we began our journey of how to navigate the chaotic maze of services, programs, and therapies to make him more like us. One day as I worked in the garden I inherited from my father, Noah with me, I noticed how calm he was and how he looked at the plants and smiled as if they were speaking to him. He would laugh and run up and down the rows never stepping on any plants as if he realized how delicate they were but still choosing to play this beautiful game with them as if they were playing back with him. After a couple of runs up and down the rows and laps around the entire garden, he would stop and seem to take a deep breath, then just sit content as if he were sitting with a good friend. Noah is non-verbal and totally dependent upon the care and love of others for his daily needs. But every time he came out to the garden, he became someone caring for something else-the plants along with a playfulness as if they were his friends-just playing. I believe that nature has a calming and affect on us all.
Especially those who respect and see the beauty in it.
A Place for Noah seeks to bring all, especially those with autism just what it brings our Noah. We want to share with others the healing as well as teach how to grow and bring joy no matter where they garden.
